Directions: Choose one of the following to develop for your analytical paper.

1) Do a literary analysis using either "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" or The Island of Dr. Moreau as your main text.

2) Do an advertizing analysis using a popular magazine ad (which you should xerox and attach to your paper).

3) Do a causal analysis of the causes of people's unusual likes or dislikes (see p. 311 of Allyn & Bacon).

4) Discuss Hume's deconstruction of causality. If causal relationships are imposed by the mind rather than found in nature, what consequences might this have for our understanding of the way the world works? Are the truths of science, for example, questionable?
