6.1.4 Exercise Example

Golden Section derivation
(a) is analogous colorSx is color saturation
(g) is grayWx is interval width

Description
Exercise 6.1.4 is a mixing/matching exercise based on your gray/color lightness and color saturation.

Terms
(1) adjacency; (2) analogous; (3) contrast, simultaneous; (4) contrast, successive;
(5) saturation; (6) quantity; (see Glossary).

Task
Based on Exercises 6.1.2 and 6.1.3, mix one gray and four colors to the same lightness.
Assign colors and gray to the intervals (containers) from Exercise 6.1.2.
There must be four color saturations, and the gray must appear to be a color.
Edge variety must result from saturation contrast not lightness contrast.

Considerations

Notes
This is an example you may use for the color interval exercise. It is not to scale.
You must draw your own diagram using this guide or your own guide based on the Golden Rectangle.
You may use instead your own interval order to achieve the color requirements.
