Duane Roen, Head
Humanities and Arts
School of Applied Arts and Sciences
On August 1, 2004, Duane Roen began his duties as Professor of English
and Head of Humanities and Arts in the School of Applied Arts and Sciences at Arizona
State University at the Polytechnic campus .
Roen directed ASU's Center
for Learning and Teaching Excellence from 1999 to 2004.
Prior to his appointment in the Center, Roen served as Director of ASU's Writing
Programs from 1995 to 1999. He held the rank of Professor
in the Department
of English at Arizona State University
Main from 1995 to 2004.
Previously, Dr. Roen held teaching and administrative appointments in The
Writing Program at Syracuse
University and in the Department
of English at the University of
Arizona in Tucson.
Dr. Roen has published six books and has authored or co-authored
more than 160 chapters, articles, and conference papers in the
areas of rhetoric,
composition, and teaching.
He is also Co-Managing Editor of WPA: Writing Program Administration, the official
journal of the Council of Writing
Program Administrators.
Duane Roen earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and his doctorate from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
