Ottawa is a non-traditional private college that serves largely adult re-entry students seeking a degree in a shorter time period. All classes are completed in 8-week Sessions. This can be a challenging format to teach in and I found that I had to develop new ways of presenting material and re-design assignments. We did make use of Blackboard and this really helped a Short Session class of adult learners who often had fulltime jobs and families, so we were able to communicate in ways beyond the once weekly meeting. (Courses taught: see below list).
