My teaching and research interests include cross-cultural comparisons of women in science/technology/medicine, gender and healing, sexualities, gender and development, and feminist theory. In all my courses, I use historical and cross-cultural approaches to emphasize the interactions of gender with other variables of social location such as race, class, ethnicity, sexuality, etc. My current research projects include: fertility control cross-culturally, gender and archaeology, and women’s health in territorial Arizona. I am the author of A Convergence of Lives, Sofia Kovalevskaia: Scientist, Writer, Revolutionary, and Science, Woman and Revolution in Russia.
