Ríos was awarded the 2007 PEN Beyond Margins Award.

 

Ríos has been honored with the 2007 Arizona Literary Treasure Award.

 

Ríos recently delivered the keynote address at the Chandler Celebration of Unity.  Read the review.

 

At the request of Governor Janet Napolitano, Alberto Ríos composed and delivered an inaugural poem at the official inauguration at the state capitol on January 4, 2007.  The poem is called, “A Sustainable Courage.”

Ríos also wrote a poem for the governor’s first inauguration, “In Us This Day.”

 

Alberto Ríos was recently featured on The News Hour with Jim Lehrer (PBS), and becomes part of the NewsHour Poetry Series.  His most recent book, The Theater of Night, was highlighted.  The interview and further materials are available online.
