Surrealist Object Gallery 2011

Text Box: Alberto Ríos / Lo real maravilloso

Each of the pages in this gallery—including this one—has a randomly assigned piece of music by Erik Satie, who was revered by the Surrealists and part of their group. The music was all composed from about 1886 to 1917. If they don’t play, you can hear them at various sites around the net—here, for example.  Music for this page is “Trois Gnossiennes,” composed in 1890.

Note: The Surrealist objects in this gallery are usually depicted from one view. In some cases, however, there was a process leading to the object, or else two or more views better suited the object. If you'd like to see more, scroll down below the objects.  Some have more angles or closeups of particular parts of the object when these were important considerations.  In some cases, there are extra objects.
