Do not send the same work out to more than one place at a time unless each of the journals says it's all right.

  • ADVICE. Not double submitting is a hard policy to defend these days.  Some places take many months to respond, and we've all got to get on with our careers.  The rules about double submitting are, in truth, relaxing.  Still, it's dangerous to play this game.  You do, finally, create a reputation for yourself, and you will want it to be a good one.  The literary world is not so vast as you might imagine, and your goal, presumably or as a byproduct, is to create a profile for yourself.  The safest compromise is, if you do decide to double submit, tell each of your places what you are doing somewhere in your cover letter.  This at least keeps everything above board.
