In this section, you will provide detailed information on the types of data you will collect data for your study and how you will collect them. You also need to discuss sampling issues. If it is a field study, you need to specify what excavation or survey techniques you will use and what exactly you intend to collect. If it is a collections or lab study, you need to specify what data you will record and how you will record them (calipers or other equipment). This section is where you need to make the case for any special equipment you will be putting in the budget, so it needs to be clear that you must collection X data in order to evaluate your models and you need Y equipment to collect those data.

For each expectation specified in the models section, you should indicate:

1. The specific methods you will use to collect the data you specified in the models.
2. What sample sizes are you targeting (and is this enough to actually test the hypotheses)?
3. What equipment the university or other entity might provide for you to collect those data. Here, NSF likes to be sure you can do the study, but it also likes to see that you are getting help from your university or agency.
