Assignment due at class time March 9, 2007:
Based on the observations you made at Spine Canyon, write the following in a single report less than 2 pages long: Rock descriptions of the Purple unit ("Tuff of White Canyon) and the Orange unit ("Apache Leap Tuff"). In addition, provide a comprehensive, but to the point, paragraph describing the entire geologic history of the Spine Canyon area.
Information for Spring Break Field Work:
We will be staying at the General Kearny Inn in Kearny (about 30 miles south of Superior on SR 177 (Google Map Link). Phone number is (520) 363-5505. They have a coffee shop/dining room. The rooms have small fridges. There is a market in town, as well as a fast food place and pizza. They have a grill. Verizon/Cingular cell service seems to be ok there; they did not know about other providers. We will be 2 people to a room (two double beds in each room).
We will be leaving at 8 am on Saturday March 10. We will have a cargo van, so bring all that you need. We will be returning in the late afternoon on Thursday March 15.
