Founded in name by Shihan Paul Arel in 1959, Jukido is a Japanese style of jujitsu that is based extensively on Sanzyuryu Jujitsu. The techniques of Kokondo Karate, Aikijitsu, Kodokan Judo, other jujitsu styles, and traditional weapons are also included in the Jukido formula. As with Kokondo Karate, the emphasis of this art is on self defense and the perfection of technique.

The techniques of Jukido Jujitsu consist primarily of throws, takedowns, joint locks, and chokes, as well as the strikes and blocks of Kokondo Karate. Just as in Kokondo Karate, all of these techniques are applied to self defense against a variety of attacks.

A typical Jukido Jujitsu class consists of the following: a warm-up, ukemi (shoulder rolls and break falls), throwing techniques, prearranged self defense, random self defense practice, and stretching to warm down.
