Send to me an email with the following information:

Quizzes (9 @ 5 pts each)

Outcomes met by successful completion: R1, CRW2, CRW3, KC1, KC3

Beginning week two, there will be a short quiz on the content of the readings each week (except the 4 weeks that case studies are due). Quizzes will be posted in Blackboard by 9:00am Monday morning (Arizona time) and must be completed by 5:00pm Wednesday afternoon (Arizona time).

Grading: Each quiz will be worth a total of 5 pts.

Discussion Board Posts/Responses (15 weeks @ 4 pts each)

Outcomes met by successful completion: R1, CRW1, CRW4

Discussion Board posts are the equivalent of class participation. You should engage in discussion of the topic and demonstrate that you have completed and understood the readings. Each of you brings your own knowledge and perspectives to the readings; responding to others' posts as a form of discussion with each other is an important part of learning. I expect active participation in discussion with posts that demonstrate you have completed and understood the readings, and that raise issues and questions about the topic. Copyright and intellectual property are complex topics that can be incredibly confusing. When we read about copyright in the media or talk to other students and colleagues about their own experiences, it can become even more confusing. The Discussion Board is not only your forum to respond to questions I may ask, it is a forum for you to ask your own questions or clarify your own confusion about topics.

Grading:

Original responses to discussion board prompts will be due by 5:00pm on Friday afternoons (Arizona time). You are expected to respond to a minimum of two other students by 11:00pm on Sunday nights (Arizona time).

You will be responsible for your own posts and should give your original responses careful thought and analysis. You should consider your DB post to be the equivalent of a short essay that responds to questions or prompts in a substantial way. That means you should have a clear and focused thesis or claim which you support with reading(s) or other evidence and which you articulate in a well-organized manner using proper tone and mechanics.

Your responses to other students should demonstrate engagement with the topic. Simply responding with "great post" or "I agree" or similar types of comments which do not add anything to the discussion will not count as a response.

Posts which are submitted on time, demonstrate independent analysis in well-written and clear essay-style, and engages with others will receive full-credit. All other posts will receive 0 pts. No partial credit will be given for discussion board posts.

Flaming or lack of civility in posts will automatically result in a grade of 0 for the week.

Case Studies (4 @ 10 points each)

Outcomes met by successful completion of this assignment: R1, CRW1, CRW3, CRW4, KC1, KC2, KC3

You will complete 4 case studies this semester applying copyright/intellectual property principles and concepts. See the Case Studies assignment page for details.

Case studies are due at 5:00pm on Sunday (Arizona time) of the week they are due.

Final Exam (25 points)

Outcomes met by successful completion: R1, CRW1, CRW2, CRW3, CRW4, KC1, KC2, KC3

A final exam consisting of essay questions covering course content will be made available on December 7th and will be due on December 9th, the last day of class.
