Graduate Assignment

Portfolio (30 pts, due May 5)

For this final assignment, you will submit a portfolio of your work consisting of the following: Write a persuasive statement assessing your performance and work in this class in the context of the course outcomes. Your statement should go beyond describing what you have done. It should include a self-assessment and analysis of your work presented to me as an argument stating that you have (or have not) met course outcomes. Use your completed product redesign, discussion posts, and any other coursework as evidence in support of your argument. Your portfolio should consist of your statement and the selection of your work that you use as evidence. That means you need to select the work that you believe best supports your evidence. If you've never done this before, think of it is analogous to citing sources in a research paper: you've got a claim (or multiple claims), you cite evidence to support it or disprove it.

When I evaluate your portfolio, I'll be reading and evaluating your statement. Your other coursework (that you include as evidence) has already been graded; here in your portfolio the only purpose it serves is as evidence. You may use any technology you choose to put together your portfolio. Consider how you want to present your argument and link to your evidence in support of it: as a narrative? as a powerpoint presentation? using other software? Your portfolio will be graded based on the comprehensiveness and clarity of your statement, how well you've developed your argument, how well you support your argument, and formatting/mechanics.

Although this assignment is not due until May 5th, you may want to keep a journal or use some other form of note taking so that you have notes to refer to when writing your statement.
