Workshops

This semester we will meet bi-weekly in the Blackboard chat room on Fridays at 1:00 (see the Schedule for specific dates) for approximately 30 mins to an hour. We will use chat sessions to go over tasks, in general, and so that I can answer questions you have about outcomes, portfolios, or any other aspect of the course. Attendance at chat sessions is required.

We will also schedule individual workshops; however, these will be more flexible and will be on a case-by-case basis. Individual workshops are intended to provide you with the opportunity to ask questions about your own portfolio or situation that you may not want to ask in a group setting. Individual workshops may also be used for feedback on your tasks or drafts.

Evaluation

Important notes:

A grade of C or better must be earned in the Capstone course. Portfolios will not be accepted from students earning below a C.

Portfolios must be submitted by the deadline (that means on my desk on the date it is due). Failure to submit the portfolio on time will result in a grade of E regardless of your grade for completing course tasks.

Failure to present your portfolio on the date scheduled will result in a grade of E.

Students who receive an E in the Capstone course will be required to retake it in a future semester.

Grading:

All of the work required for this course is intended to help prepare you to compose and present your portfolio. Course content should, hopefully, be a review of concepts and ideas that you have learned in your classes. Activities are listed on the Schedule.

All activities and workshops for this course are required and will be graded as Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory. One grade will be issued for all work required for the week.

Satisfactory:

All posts, activities, excercises are completed on time and with reasonable effort; chat sessions (if required for the week) are attended on time and you are prepared to discuss your work and ask and respond to questions.

Unsatisfactory:

Posts, activities, excercises are not completed by the due date or are completed in a way that shows lack of effort; chat sessions (if required for the week) are not attended or attendance is late and you are unprepared.

Scale:

# of satisfactories grade
9-10 A
7-8 B
6-7 C
Less than 6 E

Academic Integrity

As a student in this course you are expected to complete your own work and to properly cite work of others. Refer to the Student Academic Integrity Policy regarding students rights, responsibilities, and obligations.
