I want you to write a description of an object, mechanism, or phenomenon. In order for me to understand the appropriateness of your description, you will have to provide me with the audience, context, and other important rhetorical issues. You can do this in a short (one page or less) document which accompanies your description.
In terms of choosing something to describe, don't get overly concerned by the word "technical." You don't necessarily have to describe something that is considered to be "technical" or "technological." In fact, for our purposes it might be more useful to use the phrase "expert description," assuming that you are describing something in which you either possess, or have access to, expertise.
Your description, itself, does not need to be lengthy. One to two pages will suffice. You do, however, need to make sure that you incorporate the use of appropriate graphics into your description. I am also not really concerned by what means you use to produce your document. There are multiple options. It's possible to do all of this in a word processing document. You may, however, decide to do it with desktop publishing software. You'll also have possible electronic options such as creating a website or creating a .pdf.
