Memo or email?

The situation:

You are the technical publications manager of a high tech company. For the past five years, all of your people, writers, designers, editors, webmasters, and the like have been part of your unit. Whenever something needs to be documented, the project manager has come to you and you assign a team to do the project.

You've just been informed that your entire organization will be reorganized. Your whole division will be split up so that writers will now be part of individual teams and will report to their team leaders rather than you.

Your job is to inform your employees of the change making sure that they "buy in to" the new structure.

Your assignment:

I want you to write two documents to your employees. One should be a memo, the other an email. (You should send the email to twc401@prodigy.net.) They can either be duplicative (two documents in different media giving similar information) or complementary (two documents in different media both giving slightly different information).

I then want you to write a short (3-5 page) paper where you analyze why you did what in each medium.
