Course Objective:
To introduce students to strategies, formats, and techniques of presenting
information to business and other workplace audiences.
Assignments:
All students will be expected to produce

Students will write letter, memos, and email responding to given situations.

Students will work in assigned groups to evaluate two or more alternative solutions
to an identified problem and make a recommendation
Students will propose a change for a business or organization they know. Part
of the proposal must be identifying an appropriate place to gather information
off-site.
Students will present the substance of their Proposal to the class.
Students will create materials appropriate for a job search such as a résumé
and a cover letter.
Students will create an Annual Report (minus financial details) appropriate
for a business, a government agency, or a non-profit.
Graduate students will do a short (5-7 page) analytical paper describing
the rhetorical (both textual and visual) decisions they used while writing their
Annual Reports. The paper should demonstrate a thorough understanding of the
needs of the audience of the report.
