All the graduate students in the class will need to write a White Paper. For this White Paper I'd like you to identify a problem within an organization that you know well. This problem will call for increased or different kinds of technical communication. I especially want you to look at the problem from a human factors perspective.

Now, since most of you are asking, "What is a White Paper?" I'm adding the following hint.

Hint: One of the best places to find information on technical communication is the TECHWR-L mail list. However, one of the things that long time list members will do if you simply say, "I'm a grad student in tech comm. and need to know what a white paper is?" will tell you to do the virtual equivalent of RTFM or Read the Archives.
