Perhaps due to its inherent diversity, Geography has often been underappreciated and overlooked as an academic, scientific (physical and human), and humanistic discipline. This may stem from academe’s paradigm of "specialization" that has, for many years, produced sub-field specialties ("breeds" of Geography?). I eschew this disciplinary fracturing, and focus instead on Geography’s ability to bridge these so-called "specialties". |
