There are several things you should know about the Kensington program:
- Rules can be found at http://www.tragsnart.co.uk/kenshub/kensington/kensington.htm or at Wikipedia.
- A 0-player game means the computer plays itself. A 1-player game means a human being plays against the computer. A 2-player game means two humans play against each other, and the computer verifies that all moves are legal.
- This program uses Javascript, so make sure your browser supports it. If you are running Firefox, click on Tools..., then Options..., then Content, and check the box marked "Enable Javascript". (You don't need to mess with the Advanced settings for Javascript.) (Internet Explorer doesn't support Javascript, and early versions of Netscape might not, either.)
- This program was debugged using Mozilla Firefox 1.0.4, with 1024 × 768 resolution and a 1.3 GHz processor. Firefox version 1.5 will outline an image that has been clicked on. I am working on a fix for this.
- It is possible to determine how the computer decides its moves. I have not yet written up documentation about this; however, typing ?r after the URL will make the computer move at random.
- If you are using Firefox, you should go to the configuration page (type about:config in the URL box) and make sure that dom.disable_image_src_set is set to FALSE.
- A lot of time went into this program, so please don't modify anything without the programmer's consent. Suggestions/improvements should be sent to Christopher Heckman.
- Okay, I'm ready to play.
