The following information is provided as a quick reference to some of the more commonly asked questions about the APA Publication Manual of The American Psychological Association, 4th Edition (1994). IT IS NOT INTENDED TO REPLACE THE APA MANUAL!
Reference citations in the text, pp. 168-174.
One work and one author. See section 3.94, p. 168.
One work by multiple authors. See section 3.95, pp. 168-170.
Group authors (institutions, corporations, etc. - e.g., IAFC, NFPA, ICMA, NIST, ASPA . . .). See section 3.96, p. 170.
Two or more works within the same parentheses. See section 3.99, p. 172.
Works with no author. See section 3.97, p. 171.
Authors with the same surname. See section 3.98, p. 171.
Personal communication (this includes interviews). See section 3.102, p. 173.

For EFO Applied Research Projects use italics instead of underlining of book titles, journals, etc. The punctuation gets a little tedious but the examples in Appendix 3-A, pp. 189-234 should be very helpful.
Quotations.
Guidelines for when and how to use quotations. See sections 3.31-3.41, pp. 95-99. This section refers to the use of double quotation marks and the use of single quotation marks.
