To the cries of , "Author!", "Author!" Anamaria Teixeira, Director of the Brazilian Institute's Language Section, and Clarice Deal, BIA member and full-time Portuguese instructor at Arizona state University's Department of Languages and Literature, saw the First Edition of their book Canta Brasil roll of the press. Before the first printing had time to cool off, Clarice had introduced it to her Portuguese 101 classes at ASU. Feedback indicates the students love it.
Canta Brasil, a new musistic (my word-ED.) method of teaching the obligatory language roots of grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary , rules of usage, diction, and even Brazilian culture with emphasis on everyday occurrences, objects and situations inspired by the letra of popular Brazilian songs, injects reality, relevance and fun into learning Portuguese.
The Second Edition, with corrections, modifications and improvements based on actual classroom results, observations and suggestions, is already in the proof-reading, publication pipe-line, and a workbook is underway. Our BIA membership should be proud of this effort.
Congratulations!
