WRITE A THANK-YOU LETTER
5 POINTS for sending a thank-you letter to a guest speaker. Guests value your appreciation, and you’ll have a chance to network and to synthesize what you’ve learned. Describe what you learned, why it matters and how you can apply that information. Paper is preferred over e-mail. Be sure to give me a copy. Maximum: 5 points

A good thank-you letter is longer than three sentences. Here’s an example:
Thank you for visiting our Advanced Online Media course Monday morning. You gave our class full of aspiring multimedia journalists helpful tips for improving our work.

I have to admit that I rarely get anything worthwhile from guest speakers, but your advice and words of wisdom gave me hope that one day I'll be able to create a successful business, as you did. It was refreshing to hear the practical side of making money on the Internet. Your information was helpful to those of us who are thinking of starting a company online. I will be reading Failure Magazine on a regular basis. The idea is unique, and the stories are intriguing.

Thank you for providing our class with an informative presentation, and thank you for giving us candid answers to all our questions.
