DUE THIS THURSDAY
1. Post your tenth blog entry by midnight. Include a photo with a well-written, informative caption that includes a verb. This is the last one if you have done them all and are happy with your grades. Otherwise, you may do two more and drop your lowest two grades.

2. Read the handout on links.

3. Turn in one sidebar for each of your zine stories. Look at http://cronkitezine.asu.edu/winecountry.html, http://cronkitezine.asu.edu/yumaprison.html and other examples on the Cronkite Zine (http://cronkitezine.asu.edu).

4. Find the URLs of links for your zine stories.

5. Find one good pull quote for each of your zine stories. If your stories are long, find two.

6. If you have a long story and it doesn’t have subheads to break up the text, add subheads.

Optional: If you’re not fond of the head or deck that came with the story, you may craft a better head and deck. A deck is a mini-explanation that appears under the title, especially one that is a bit cryptic.

7. By next Tuesday, bring in at least one sidebar for your story. We will review how to write a sidebar.

OPTIONAL: If you want to raise the grade on your personal Web site, put the revision in your student folder and give Carol the checklist AND her comments by next Thursday, November 9.

DUE NEXT TUESDAY
Post your tenth blog entry by midnight.

1. TURN IN one sidebar for your zine story if it is short or two sidebars if it is long. For more information and an example, go to the Sidebars section of our class Web site.

2. TURN IN a paragraph about one of different types of online election coverage. Pick two of the following categories, then write no more than one page comparing the Web sites discussed. You’ll receive extra points if you find and discuss another good example.
1.) Personalized Results Tracking
2.) Citizen Reporting
3.) News, at a Glance
4.) Blogging the Count
5.) Equipping the Voters
6.) Streaming the Vote
8.) The Graphic Traffic
10.) Listening In

OPTIONAL FOR EXTRA CREDIT—DUE NEXT THURSDAY
In Photoshop design a banner and logo for the next edition of the zine.
• 800 x 150 max (could be thinner)
• A neutral background—gray, white, beige, black
• Can incorporate a subtle graphic if you like
