Copy Editor/Research Aide (2009)
Aide to Jenny Trinitapoli, author and professor of sociology
I am currently assisting Dr. Jenny Trinitapoli with her book on the relationship between religion and HIV in sub-Saharan Africa. I was hired to copy edit and “normalize” academic material so that it will appeal to anyone interested in the subject. I also am helping her organize her research for an academic journal article she is preparing to write.

East Valley Tribune (2008)
Sports Reporting Intern
Every week at a paper with 90,000 readers, I had three assignments that varied in nature. The only thing consistent about my assignments was that one was always a prep high school football game. The football games are great practice for deadline writing because stories must be submitted less than an hour of a game’s end. I have reported everything from high school to professional athletics, player profiles to in-game features. Most stories involved feature writing.

CaféAbroad.com (2008)
Buenos Aires Team Manager:
CaféAbroad.com is an online travel magazine for undergraduate students studying abroad. The site provides travel articles, reviews, city guides, information on upcoming cultural events and networking similar to Facebook. My duties included managing a small team of writers and contributing pieces my self. In my semester with CaféAbroad.com, I reorganized and improved an existing city guide and began an initiative to create weekend guides to neighboring cities. I established a timeline with deadlines and goals for my small team of writers and led weekly meetings. I wrote and edited articles for the website which we promoted through other online venues such as Digg, Delicious, and Facebook. At the end of the internship I suggested ways to improve the site and increase traffic. Before leaving the magazine to return to
the United States I was offered an additional internship in New York state to sell advertising and create partnerships with university websites.

Renaissance Personnel Group (2007/09)
Web Research Assistant:
In 2009 I created a comprehensive social media guerilla marketing campaign for the company that involved a blog, twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. Each medium was used according to its strengths to reach different demographics and generate repeat clients.
Renaissance Personnel Group is a personnel placement firm that specializes in managerial positions. In 2007, as a web research assistant I read rare job descriptions provided by client companies. I searched all the major résumé databases (Monster, Jobing, etc) and gleaned through the thousands of resumes to create matches, which I did with success.
