Teotihuacan. This city was the largest urban zone in North America at its height during what is titled the Classic Period (ca. A.D. 100-650).

The Epiclassic Period (ca. A.D. 650-900) is an important time in the history of Teotihuacan occupation. Radical changes in material culture, settlement pattern and trade networks from the Classic to Epiclassic Period suggest swift and widesweeping transformations in Teotihuacan society.
The Early Postclassic (ca. A.D. 900-1150) ia the period of Tula rise and expansion in Central Mexico. The extent of Toltec influence in the ceramic exchange patterns in Central mexico are still poorly understood, especially in the Basin of Mexico.

Ceramic analysis indicates a large degree of homogeneity in technological and stylistic attributes across the Teotihuacan Valley during the Epiclassic Period. This indicates that the people living in the area were interacting - whether through trade or the spread of similar ideaas of production. Source studies of Epiclassic ceramics at Teotihuacan suggest that decorated vessels were not traded from other areas in the Basin of Mexico.

I am participating in research relating to the production and exchange of ceramic objects during the Epiclassic and Early Postclassic Periods in the eastern poirtion of the Basin of Mexico and especially Teotihuacan and Cerro Portezuelo.
