These patterns apply to many nouns whose nominative singular ends in: б, в, д, з, л, м, н, п, р, с, т, and ф.

The general rule for first declension masculine nouns is that the accusative copies the genitive if the noun is animate, and the accusative copies the nominative if the noun is inanimate. This applies to both the singular and the plural.
