Russian has two broad patterns for conjugation verbs. The second conjugation has the following endings:

(For the 1st sg ending, -ю is the default form, and -у is used when triggered by the spelling rule. The the 3rd plural ending, -ят is the default form, and -ат is used when triggered by the spelling rule.)
When these endings are added to an imperfective stem, they produce a present tense verb. When they are added to a perfective stem, they produce a perfective future tense verb. Those two forms we will collectively call the non-past forms. (Bear in mind that when we say non-past in this context, we do not mean compound imperfective future forms like буду читать; we have in mind only forms like читаю and прочитаю.) This give us forms like:

Most verbs whose infinitives end in -ить are second conjugation verbs, but some that end in -ат, -ять and -еть are as well. To find the non-past stem, you remove the last three letters of the infinitive and then add the leftmost series of endings. (Note that this is different from the first conguation verbs from which you remove the last two letters for the non-past stem.)

Many second conjugation verbs undergo consonant mutations. When that happens, the consonants mutate in the following pattern:

When a first conjugation verb has a consonant mutation, that mutation occurs only in the я form:

Reflexive verbs add a reflexive suffix after the past tense forms. The suffix is -ся if preceded by a vowel, or -сь if preceded by a non-vowel. The verb is first conjugated without the reflexive suffix, and then the reflexives are added:
