Irregular forms

There are a few ∅-verbs that don’t quite follow the general rules above. Specifically, if a verb has a dental stop (д or т) in the я form of the verb which does not appear in the masculine past tense form, then the past active participle keeps the dental stop, and the suffix –ш- is used for the participle.

If the masculine past tense ends in a consonant other than -л, then the past active participle is formed by adding the suffix -ш- to the masculine past tense form followed by the standard adjectival endings:

Those verbs that allow two forms of the masculine past also have two forms of the participle:

The verb stem -ид- “go” is unique and reveals an unexpected ш in its past tense forms. In the past active participle it has the stem -шедш-:

Reflexive verbs add a reflexive suffix in the past participial forms. In participles the suffix is -ся is always used, never the suffix -сь.
