What is literacy? We know part of it is being able to read and comprehend text, but recently the term literacy is being used to describe competency as well especially in term of computer usage and navigation. In standard language, we are taught to read words that are in parallel lines running left to right starting and the top of the page. Computer language is no longer retaining that format.

Because of the multi-media, the “reader” chooses the order of which he/she would like to comprehend the material. Unfortunately, standard text still reads left to right due to conditioning and a belief in some degree of unity, but at some point literacy will be a term used for all media.
