Do you see any horses pulling people around anymore?  Then why do we drive cars with power still measured in horses?  It is obvious a transition is taking place; just take a look around the nearest Blockbuster.  Did it not used to be Blockbuster Video?  Little by little the tapes are being taken off the shelves and replaced with DVD’s.  What ever happened to laser disks, anyways?  It is the natural process of evolution. Throughout the generations, dishwashers, televisions, cars, and recordings of music have improved in quality, but the difference between the technology of the 1950’s versus the technology of the late 1990’s is not very different.  In fact, the same analogue technology has been used from the time of the first printing press.  Since its invention, there have been several improved versions of printing that have made literature more available to the public to read and write as well, and we have also seen typewriters, word processors, and computers get quicker, more flexible, and produce more creative documents. Still it remains in the form of typing on a keyboard.  So far, the goal of technology has been to make things faster, smaller, and more efficient.  It is only recently in the 2000’s that technology progressed into a different form.  I say this with caution though, because it may take another “advanced technology” to rid the digital from the analogue influence.
