Research interests: Geology, sedimentology, geomicrobiology, evolution, biology, biomineralization, biosignatures, ancient and modern environments. How the non-living and the living have been interacting throughout time? How microbes adapt to the environment? What structures help them do that? Under what conditions? How elements are recycled? What are the processes? What materials are formed? How microbes interact with these materials? What can be known from the rock and fossil record? How to interpret all that? What techniques to use?
Other interests: Being out in nature, photography, trekking, camping, music, poetry
