Project History

After giving a final at the end of one semester, I was approached by a student enrolled in the class.  After trading opening comments, it soon became apparent that she was finding it very difficult to tell me what was truly bothering her.  I suggested we go to my office because it offered greater privacy.

It took her one and a half hours to tell her story.  It came out it short, courageous bursts.  She had been on a date; her date had forced her to have sex in spite of her protests.  She felt responsible for what happened.

Unfortunately, hers is not a rare case.  I have had a number of friends and students approach me over the years with similar stories.  They are the inspiration for this research project.
