12/09 A copy of the solutions to Tests 4 and 5 is now available at the Noble Library Copy Center. 12/05 There is an error on Old Test #5, MC question #10. The correct answer is 3.68 X 10^4 J, not 3.68 X 10^3 J. This correction was made on the overhead during the test, but I forgot to make it on the key. Also, MC question #12 is not relevant this year; we did not cover that topic. 12/02 Mike Grams will hold a review session in PSF-123 on THUR night 12/04 beginning at 7:40. I will have an extra office hour on Fri from 1:40-2:30 (i.e. my Fri office hours this week will be from 12:40-3:30.) However, I will not be in Help-Study on Thursday this week as I must attend a Master's Defense at that time. 11/13 Mike Grams will hold a review session in PSF-123 on Tue night 11/18 from 7:30 - 9:30. I will have extra office hours (i.e. in addition to my usual office hours) on Mon from 3:00-3:40 and on Tue from 5:00-7:00 in PSF-462. 11/04 A copy of the solutions to Test 3 is now available at the Noble Library Copy Center. At the same time, I put copies of the solutions to Test 2, which I had neglected to do after returning from Budapest. 10/20 Mike Grams will hold a review session (where you may ask questions relevant to the upcoming test) in PSF-173 on Wed night from 7:30 - 9:30. David Vonk will also hold a review session (once again, come with questions on the concepts involved, don't just ask how to do certain problems) in PSH-352 on Wed afternoon at 4:30. My office hours on Tues 10/21 will be extended. Instead of the usual 3-5 PM, I will be available from 3-7 PM in PSF-462 to answer your questions on Momentum and Rotation. 10/01 From the afternoon of Fri 10/03, through the afternoon of Fri 10/10, I will be off campus, on a research trip to Budapest, Hungary. The 2nd test, on Mon 10/06 will be administerd by our TAs. Your graded tests will be returned in recitation beginning Fri 10/10. Mike Grams will cover my 12:40 office hour this Friday. After that, my office hours will not be covered until I return, probably for my 2:40 office hour on Fri 10/10. However, PSF-462 will still be reserved for our class during my office hours. You may still meet there and solve problems as a group. Next Wed's lecture will be given by Professor Luanna Ortiz. On Fri 10/10, the lecture will be given by Professor Otto Sankey. 9/24 Change to HW problem 16(b) from Chapter 5. In this problem, instead of solving for the angle between the string and the horizontal, call that angle theta and assume that it is known. Assume the speed of the rock is unknown. Then solve for the tension in the rope and the speed of the rock. (This change makes your algebra much easier.) This problem is assigned on Fri 9/26. 9/16 A copy of the solutions to Test 1 is now available at the Noble Library Copy Center. 9/03 The old tests, with solutions, are now available in the Noble Library Copy Center.
