PRACTICE QUESTIONS FOR TEST 4
I hope you have already done the Self-Assessment Tests
from Chapters 25, 26, and 27 in the C&J Sixth Edition Web Site.
Note: In Chapter 25, remember that we did not do spherical mirrors,
which is covered by SAT 25.2. In Chapter 26, we did not do
polarization by reflection, near- or farsightedness, refractive
power, or telescopes (except as an example of compound lenses).
Also, in Chapter 24, we did the Doppler Effect which is covered
by questions 3 and 4 in that SAT. Finally, in Chapter 28, we
did addition of velocities, which is covered by question 9 in
SAT 28.2
The old C&J Fifth Edition Web Site has two good sets of
practice MC questions, the Practice Chapter Quizzes and
the Self-Quizzes. For Test 4 I suggest only Chapters 25
and 26 from this Old C&J site. (Enter anything at all for
"Name" and "Group".) Use the same disclaimers as given above.
You can also find practice multiple choice questions covering:
(1)Ray Optics by selecting PRACTICE QUESTIONS at the
Giancoli Textbook Site: Chapter 23 . Skip questions 1 - 14, 30.
Many of questions 15-29 are quite good.
(2)Physical Optics by selecting PRACTICE QUESTIONS at the
Giancoli Textbook Site: Chapter 24 .
However, I cannot recommend these questions. You will get
better questions at the C&J sites.
PRACTICE QUESTIONS FOR TEST 3
I hope you have already done the Self-Assessment Tests
from Chapters 22, 23, and 24 in the C&J Sixth Edition Web Site.
Note: In Chapter 23, remember that we did not do any calculations
of Impedance or Reactance, except using the DEFs of those values.
Also, in Chapter 24, we did not do the Doppler Effect. Finally,
in Ch 24 #7, the given B field is not the max value (as it says)
but the RMS value.
The old C&J Fifth Edition Web Site has two good sets of
practice MC questions, the Practice Chapter Quizzes and
the Self-Quizzes. You again want Chapters 22 - 24.
(Enter anything at all for "Name" and "Group".) Use the same
disclaimer for Chapters 23 and 24 as given above.
You can also find practice multiple choice questions covering:
(1)Inductance and AC Circuits by selecting PRACTICE QUESTIONS at the
Giancoli Textbook Site: Chapter 21 . Skip questions 17 - 22.
Be careful though. In several questions, they are speaking
about RMS values but forget to say so explicitly.
(2)Electromagnetic Waves by selecting PRACTICE QUESTIONS at the
Giancoli Textbook Site: Chapter 22 .
The relevant questions are questions 1-17. However, 2-6, 8,
and 10 are only about identifying the waves in the EM
spectrum, which we have not emphasized. And for 7 and 9,
I get different answers from theirs, namely .3 m and 0.6
microns. (I count 10 tics in their moving wave.)
PRACTICE QUESTIONS FOR TEST 2
I hope you have already done the Self-Assessment Tests
from Chapters 20 and 21 in the C&J Sixth Edition Web Site.
The old C&J Fifth Edition Web Site has two good sets of
practice MC questions, the Practice Chapter Quizzes and
the Self-Quizzes. You again want Chapters 20 and 21.
(Enter anything at all for "Name" and "Group".)
You can also find practice multiple choice questions covering:
(1)Current, Resistance, and Electric Power by selecting
PRACTICE QUESTIONS at the
Giancoli Textbook Site: Chapter 18.
We did not cover the topics in questions 13 and 22 - 24.
(2)Kirchoff's Rules and RC Circuits by selecting
PRACTICE QUESTIONS at the
Giancoli Textbook Site: Chapter 19.
We did not cover the topics in questions 1-2.
(2)Magnetic Forces on Charges and Currents by selecting
PRACTICE QUESTIONS at the
Giancoli Textbook Site: Chapter 20.
In a couple of these questions they neglect to give the
angle. In each case it is 45 degrees.
PRACTICE QUESTIONS FOR TEST 1
I hope you have already done the Self-Assessment Tests
from Chapters 18 and 19 in the C&J Sixth Edition Web Site.
The old C&J Fifth Edition Web Site has two good sets of
practice MC questions, the Practice Chapter Quizzes and
the Self-Quizzes. You again want Chapters 18 and 19.
(Enter anything at all for "Name" and "Group".)
You can also find practice multiple choice questions
covering Electric Potential and Electric Potential Energy
and Capacitance by selecting PRACTICE QUESTIONS at the
Giancoli Textbook Site: Chapter 17.
BUT BEWARE, their answers to questions 20 and 25 are wrong!
The correct answers are 500 eV and 2.67 m to the left of Q_2.
You can also find practice multiple choice questions covering
Electric Charge and Electric Field by selecting PRACTICE
QUESTIONS at the Giancoli Textbook Site: Chapter 16.
If you find other good practice problems on the web, let me
know by e-mail and I will put a link to those sites at this
