                        TIPS ON SUBMITTING
                   HW ASSIGNMENTS WITH EGRADE

Please, NEVER use your browser's BACK button in the
middle of an Egrade session. The system is designed to
only move in the forward direction.

The way things are set up at this time, you will have
three opportunities to answer each problem (this may
change as the semester proceeds). Always use three
significant figures in your answers. Numerical answers
must be correct to within 2%.

Remember to check the ANNOUNCEMENTS each time you log
in. If there are any problems entering answers, I will
  put warnings in the ANNOUNCEMENTS.

IMPORTANT: AFTER DOING AN ASSIGNMENT, DON'T FORGET TO HIT
THE SUBMIT BUTTON. If you don't SUBMIT the
assignment, it will not be credited to you.

If you don't get the message "Your results have
been sent to the instructor gradebook", then you
have not yet submitted your work.

Currently, you may submit an assignment as many as
five times. The last submission before the deadline is
the one that counts for your grade.

You can always check the status of your work by going
  to your GRADEBOOK page.

                   REGISTERING FOR EGRADE

To sign up for EGrade, you will need the 18-digit
Registration Code Number that comes with the EGrade Packet
packaged with your textbook (students who used EGrade in
the spring of 2004 will probably find that they don't need
their code, but they must use the same login and password
as before). If you have purchased a new textbook that is
not packaged with EGradePlus, take your receipt to the
Customer Service Desk at the bookstore and ask for Paula
Bryant.) If you have purchased a used textbook, then you
will have to purchase EGradePlus separately. The bookstore
has a few of these. (NOTE: The 6th edition of the textbook
is required for the course. Used copies of the 6th edition
  may be difficult to find.)

To sign up, you will need to go to the site for your
recitation, and then follow these instructions:

       1. Click "register for this class now".
       2. Accept the license agreement.
       3. Enter your 18-digit registration code (this code
          is case sensitive!) and submit.
       4. Enter your name and email address, and select your
own personal password. (For your email address,
please use your ASU email address. By using the
EPO Update feature at EMMA you can always set
your ASU email account to send all email to your
            favorite email location.)
       5. Now you should be ready to login with your email
and selected password and begin doing homework
            assignments.

Here are the sites corresponding to the five recitations.

Go to the site for your recitation and follow the above
instructions. MAKE SURE THAT YOU SIGN UP AT THE RECITATION
SITE FOR WHICH YOU ARE REGISTERED. If you sign up at the
wrong recitation site, then your homework scores will NOT
  be credited to you.

                  BUY AN EGRADE CODE ONLINE

If the bookstore is running short of those EGrade packets
which are separate from the book, you can buy an EGrade
code online (downloadable direct from the publisher) with
a credit card by going to buyegradeplus. At that site,
where it asks for "School Name", just type in TEMPE and
then hit search. (If you type "Arizona State University",
  it will not work properly.)
