For Active Learning, the ideal is that

"Class time is spent on collaborative activities in
small, assigned teams".

For Fall 2023, our collaborative activities will
consist mostly of working together on our Mastering
Physics or WebAssign HW problems, with lots of
Learning Catalytics (LC) questions; you are always
strongly encouraged to discuss the LC questions with
your teammates, but you should always enter the
answer you think to be most correct.

The seating in our classroom consists of nine seats
at each of eight tables. You will be assigned to sit
at a particular table, and to a team at that table
consisting of three or four students. No one is
allowed to work alone.

We will have at least one Learning Assistant (LA)
to help with questions that you cannot solve by
discussions with your teammates. Just raise your
hand and the LA will visit your team.

In in-person Active Learning, "You will, at times,
be required to report your team's findings to the
entire class." Each team will have access to a
portable whiteboard; we will assign whiteboard work
for some of our in-class problems. When called on, the
selected team must show their whiteboard work for a
particular problem, and explain the work to the entire
class.

  Thanks, GBA.
