REGISTERING FOR MASTERING PHYSICS

                         NEW USERS

To sign up for Mastering Physics, you will need the 6-word
Registration Code that comes with the Mastering Physics Packet
packaged with your textbook. If you have purchased a new
textbook (from the bookstore) that is not packaged with
Mastering Physics, take your receipt to the Customer Service
Desk at the bookstore and ask for Paula Bryant.) If you have
purchased a used textbook, then you will have to purchase
Mastering Physics separately. The bookstore should have a few
of these. You should also be able to use a credit card at the
  Mastering Physics web site.

To sign up, you will need to go to masteringphysics.com
and then go through the registration process for the
stand-alone version. Once you are registered, then
go through the logon process for the stand-alone
version. At this point, the program will ask you for
an identification code for our class. This code is

                       MPADAMS0005

It will also ask for your student ID number. BE SURE
TO USE YOUR ASU POSTING ID, in the form 1234-567.
What if I don't know my POSTING ID?

                 USERS WITH ACTIVE ACCOUNTS

If you were registered in my Fall class, then you will not
be able to register for my Spring class until Jan 16. If you
were registered in someone else's MP class, then you may be
able to register earlier. Simply login under the Stand Alone
label. You will then be given the opportunity to register for
a new class. The class code is MPADAMS0005. Don't forget to
USE YOUR ASU POSTING ID for your student ID number.

                       TIPS ON SUBMITTING
             HW ASSIGNMENTS WITH MASTERING PHYSICS

Please, never use your browser's BACK button in the
middle of an Mastering Physics session. The system is
designed to only move in the forward direction.

The way things are set up at this time, you will have
six opportunities to answer each problem (this may be
reduced to four as the year proceeds). Always use three
significant figures in your numerical answers (unless the
program gives other instructions for a particular problem).
In most cases, numerical answers must be correct to within
2% (if a certain number of sig figs is requested, then the
  restriction is sometimes tightened).

If you are having trouble seeing a figure in the
Problem View, try using the Print View.
