5/10
Here is the final histogram. In the histogram, solid
lines indicate the major separations (for example,
C+/B-). Dotted lines indicate the minor separations
(for example B-/B). There were no A- or B- grades
this year.
The final overall class average is 72.34.
Many thanks for working hard this semester. GBA
For more detail, see the Column of Overall Grades.
5/02
Here is a histogram of the scores of still-active
students who have nonzero TP grades and total HW
points of 760 or more in my online gradebook. The
red lines will give you some idea of what your final
letter grade cutoffs might be. As of 5/02, these
overall scores should be reasonably similar to the
final overall averages; however, the final exam is
not yet included, and will likely lower the overall
average somewhat.
The overall class average at this time is 75.52.
DISCLAIMER
The average letter-grade cutoffs shown here are only
an estimate of the final letter-grade cutoffs. The
final selection of cutoffs takes into consideration
the final class average and is generally primarily
determined by the location of large gaps in the final
distribution of overall averages. The final cutoffs
may be EITHER HIGHER OR LOWER than those shown here.
Also, the plus-minus system will be used in the final
cutoffs, but I will not estimate the location of those
plus-minus cutoffs.
4/21
Here is a histogram of the scores of still-active
students who have nonzero TP grades and more than
660 of the available Mastering Physics points.
The red lines indicate an ESTIMATE of the approximate
locations of the E-D, D-C, C-B, and A-B cutoffs
for this semester.
The overall class average at this time, for these
students with nonzero TP grades and WebAssign totals
of more than 660 points, is 78.18. Since this average
includes 1 test drop out of 2 tests, and since in the
end there will be 1 test drop out of 3 tests, and also
the final exam will be included, it is expected that
the final average will be lower than the current
average.
DISCLAIMER
The average letter-grade cutoffs shown here are still
a rough estimate of the final letter-grade cutoffs.
The final selection of cutoffs takes into consideration
the final class average and is generally primarily
determined by the location of large gaps in the final
distribution of overall averages. The final cutoffs
may be EITHER HIGHER OR LOWER than those shown here,
however, at this time I would expect that they are
unlikely to be higher. Also, the plus-minus system
will be used in the final cutoffs, but I will not
estimate the location of those plus-minus cutoffs.
3/29
Here is a histogram of the scores of still-active
students who have nonzero TP grades and MP grades
of more than 480 in my online gradebook as of 3/29.
The overall class average at this time is 78.39.
