TEST 1 FEEDBACK PAGE: If you took Test 1 and did not get a
perfect score of 10.0, then search for your name in the
lists below. When you find your name, you will see which
MP Feedback problem has been assigned to you, based on a MC
question that you missed on Test 1. Participation in our
feedback system is completely optional. If you choose to
participate, then you can receive as much as 0.5 extra
Test 1 points by neatly writing up your solution to this
question in detail, with nice FBD's, graphs, and/or Motion
Diagrams. (When writing up your problem, you should think
about what you would expect to see if the problem were
written up as an example in a textbook. Your submission will
be graded by comparing it against the quality of the explanation
in examples presented in our text.) If your score
on Test 1 was between 4.5 and 9.0, then turn in your written
problem to Dr. Adams by the start of class on WED 2/19. If
your score on Test 1 was between 0.0 and 4.0, then use email to
make an appointment with Dr. Adams; the deadline for your
appointment is FRI 2/21, and the deadline for making an
appointment is MON 2/17. Turn in your written problem to
Dr. Adams during this appointment, where you will be asked
to defend your written work. Thanks. GBA

A Book on a Table (from HW05)
Do a modified version of this question with
extra knowledge about the table (given below).
Make an extended FBD for the book and for the
table (which has a mass of 50 kg and is on bare
earth). Make a careful argument for the size
of each force in each of your two FBD's. State
clearly which forces are gravitational and
which are electromagnetic. Finally, make a
not-to-scale drawing of the Earth, and show
all of the forces acting on the Earth by either
the book or the table, and state the sizes of
these forces, making an appropriate argument
in each case. State which of these force are
gravitational and which are electromagnetic.
Finally, identify all third-law pairs among all
the forces which are in your two FBD's and in
your drawing of the Earth.
