For Active Learning, the ideal is that

"Class time is spent on collaborative activities in
small, assigned teams".

For Spring 2023, our collaborative activities will
consist mostly of working together on our Mastering
Physics HW problems, with lots of Learning Catalytics
(LC) questions; you are always strongly encouraged to
discuss the LC questions with your teammates, but you
should always enter the answer you think to be most
correct.

The seating in our classroom consists of nine seats
at each of eight tables. You will be assigned to sit
at a particular table with three or four other students
(given our present enrollment). At each table, the
students may form either one or two small teams of two
to four students, depending on the number of students
at that table on any particular day. These will be our
small, assigned teams for Spring 2023. No one is
allowed to work alone.

We will have at least one Learning Assistant (LA)
to help with questions that you cannot solve by
discussions with your teammates. Just raise your
hand and the LA will visit your team.

In in-person Active Learning, "You will, at times,
be required to report your team's findings to the
entire class." This will occur if we elect to
assign whiteboard work on selected MP HW problems. We
may do some of this in the second-half of our semester,
depending on how the first half goes in Spring 2023.

  Thanks, GBA.
