NECROPOLIS BY NIGHT
CHAPTER 4
THE FUTURE AND BEYOND

As with all idealist concepts, the "Casablanca Plan" fell short of its expected goal. Some scoffed and chortled that it was meant to fail since that's what you get when you try to include those who cannot be respected. But that did not stop the city from prospering under the Brujah Prince's rule. The Camarilla was in prominence. The Sabbat were in place. An eerie calmness settled over the city... some would say the Camarilla became too complacent. Some would say the Sabbat knew they were outclassed. Some would say it was a harbinger of things to come.

The Brujah Prince's reign was lengthy to say the least. He held power in Necropolis for over a year and a half. During this reign, the Sabbat were purged from Necropolis, MO, and driven back to Necropolis, KS. Many of the Sabbat lost faith in their leadership and subsequently, in what could only be described as a self-exodus, migrated to St. Louis. But that was not the end of the Sabbat woes. With political maneuverings by both the Brujah Prince and his Seneschal, riots ripped into Necropolis, KS, as the purge continued. Night after night, different events meant to add confusion to the fast acting Camarilla efforts, proved to be too much for the Sabbat to handle.

Fires broke out, city workers went on strike, and newspapers publishing tell-all stories all aided in the effort. What many failed to realize, though, that this was all according to plan a plan that the Brujah Prince and the Primogen Council set forth to make their statement: Stay out of our Domain! To their expectations, it worked and the Sabbat were pushed out of the Camarilla Domain and back into Necropolis, KS.

The riots caused a death toll of 12, remarkably low when compared to the L.A. riots of the early 60s. But even a death toll so low has dire consequences for Kindred; and even Kindred Princes must answer to someone for their actions. For his devising and implementation of the plan, the Brujah Prince was summoned to Venice to answer to crimes against humanity charges brought forth by the Ventrue Justicar. It was up to the Conclave in Venice to determine whether or not such radical actions were necessary.

With the Prince called to Venice, the Clans of the Camarilla began damage control and busied themselves with laying down repair work to undo what had been done. The two most notable in this effort were the Ventrue and the Tremere. The Ventrue devised the plan to install tollbooths on the bridges between Necropolis,

MO, and Necropolis, KS, to help log and track new Kindred as they enter the city.

With the political maneuverings and financial controls the Ventrue had, it was a fairly easy project for them. Petitioning the State of Missouri, all in accordance with the laws of the mortal land, the Tollbooth Initiative, as the newspapers dubbed it, was placed on the City Councils agenda and passed into law. Manned and operated by Clan Ventrue, the tollbooths became the basis for the early warning system.

House and Clan Tremere used the resources of the entire Chantry and placed wards on the toll booths and bridge structure; thereby, bringing the early warning system to full operation which deterred the overland movement of the Sabbat into Necropolis, MO. In addition, the seven elders of the Chantry combined efforts and produced a ritual that would cause any Tremere Antitribu to burst into flames should they enter the Camarilla Domain. It is rumored that this ritual was the basis for the destruction of Tremere Antitribu around the world. Only a rumor. However, the traitorous House Goratrix is extinct.

Baro Adenak Raver Raventhorne, of the Ravnos, decided it was time that his Kumpania had a place to call there own and not shared with the Gangrel of Necropolis. In an effort to make his vision come to fruition, he moved his entire Kumpania to some of the war torn land in Necropolis, KS, as the Sabbat vacated and moved out. At first, his hold was tenuous at best, but with diligence and perseverance, his turf was established and his control became solid. The Ravnos very rarely come to Necropolis, MO, anymore but the Baro still keeps open communications with members of the insular power structure of the Camarilla.

Clan Ventrue again became active under Primogen Damascus Dreiburgen and their ranks began to swell once more. While some Ventrue were opposed to his rule, the voices of dissention were few and far between. As the Clan grew, so did the loyalty to one another and a close-knit unity formed. It wasn’t until the Giovanni started a bidding war for land in and around Necropolis that this Clan had its first test. This test came to an abrupt end with the upstart newcomer, Hamilton Cartwright’s, entrance into the city. This self-proclaimed Prince tried to involve great many kindred in his mad quest to fill the absent Prince's seat, which, at the time, was being filled by Seneschal Clare Altier in lieu of his return.
