Much to Cartwright's chagrin, Damascus and a few of his loyal Ventrue disguised themselves as other people, or sent spies in mass to discover and subsequently foil Hamilton's mad plans. After laying bare his folly, it was to Damascus' joy that a traitor lay in mist of Hamilton's flock. One of the Giovanni, Lucius Giabella, thought he could run the Clan and make his voice theirs. In like fashion, Seneschal Altier's own sire, Dorien Grey, fell sway to the madman's plot and was subsequently denounced by Vienna. To date, the Giovanni Lucius Giabella, and the Tremere Dorien Grey, have not been heard from since; and the hostilities between the Giovanni and Ventrue were quelled.

Shortly thereafter the position of Prince once again became a hot topic when the Brujah returned from Venice, and the Primogen Council discovered he had never left. During an emergency Council meeting called by Seneschal Clare Altier, the Brujah appeared and made the announcement that he had never resigned his Archonship with Justicar Petrodon. His open hostility towards Clans Ventrue and Toreador stung the Council members. His reign, once thought of as an example of how to unite a city, was reduced to proven lies. The Primogen Council reeled from the shock and their misplaced faith. The very Prince, who they thought was leading them, was only pulling their strings for a higher power. The Brujah Prince's plan then became one of replacement.

He had found a man named Garrett Laserian whom he had worked with previously to be competent for the job. While this was happening, Seneschal Clare Altier resigned her position thereby invoking the clause in her contract with the Brujah Prince that stated: Should one resign, the other resigned as well. The city was left without a ruling body save the Primogen Council. The Council set about to find another candidate for Prince, many were named, Laserian among them but it was when Clan Ventrue found Laserian not only “not” from their clan but a Clanless, he was dropped from the elections. Thus lay to rest the last of the Brujah Prince's plans for power with the election of Gangrel Primogen Jessica as Prince of the City.

Her reign was brief as many, including the Tremere, felt a Gangrel could not run the city, as it should. Upheavals started once again as House and Clan Tremere refused to acknowledge her as Prince. The hostilities between clans became more and more evident. Many looked back to the time before the Brujah Prince and wondered if the city was going to decline back into a state of madness and confusion. Then Prince Jessica was duped by an imposter and kidnapped. For many, that was the last straw and the Clans of the Camarilla united once again. The unifying question that kept being raised was “How can we trust a Prince who allows herself to be duped and captured?”

To some, most notably the Gangrel, the actions of the Primogen Council in calling a vote of confidence and forcing Jessica to resign, stung hard and to their very core.

Trust is a hard commodity to come by these nights and the Primogen Council wasn't any exception. Some Clans even spoke of having the Primogen Council run the city. When the elections came around again, the Primogen Council was hard pressed to find candidates since it appeared that many were unwilling to take the heavy burden of Prince. Again renewed with the vigor and vim so prevalent in her, Maga Clare Altier accepted the nomination from House and Clan Tremere and placed her name into the elections; much to likes of Clan Toreador. Ventrue Primogen Damascus Dreiburgen, who had been oddly silent before, stood up to be, counted as viable candidate as well. This was oddly different that his previous actions. He had asked his Clan to remain silent and bid neutrality during the time of Prince Jessica to help keep the Clans of the Camarilla from ripping into each other.

Many knew this wasn't a time for a drawn out elections and political maneuverings, the city was without a ruling Prince. The Primogen Council banded together and worked effectively to expedite this. With two clear-cut nominations, Maga Clare Altier and Damascus Dreiburgen, the voting process began in earnest amongst the Primogen. Clan Gangrel, citing to maintain the unity of, and for, the Camarilla, cast their vote for Damascus Dreiburgen. The voting stood 3 Clans for Damascus Dreiburgen, 2 Clans for Maga Clare Altier. In what can only be described as one of the greatest of political maneuverings of the time, Nosferatu Primogen Kadin Muire, effectively swayed both House and Clan Tremere and Clan Toreador to unite under Damascus Dreiburgen and once again unite the Camarilla. To this day, Maga Clare Altier has much respect for the Nosferatu… for they have earned it.

With the city once again united, the time to root out the traitors and small bands of Sabbat who have circumvented the Tremere wards and taken to the sewer tunnels to cross into Camarilla domain, is at hand. All the Clans of the Camarilla are doing their part… or so it would seem. While some are noted for their prowess in battle and unite under that front, those of more intellectual prowess are tending to damage control and Domain security. Upon ascending to the throne, Prince Damascus immediately contacted representatives of the Anarch Sect in Independence and effectively worked out a Mutual Assistance/Non-Aggression Pact with them. With the northern, eastern, and southern borders of the Domain once again stable and under control, all concentration can now be attuned to the western border and the ever-present threat of Sabbat, right across the river.
