MTC 436/598 Assignment #3: First Sequencing Assignment

Project Description:

Orchestrate the Debussy prelude (measures 1-41) for synthesizers using the Digital Performer sequencing platform. A pdf file of that prelude may be found here

Technical Requirements:

1. Your synthesizer orchestra must contain a minimum of eight different sounds which should be chosen from the Korg Wavestation and the Kurzweil K2000.

2. Each midi track on DP must set the patch at the beginning of the piece.

3. All sounds must be balanced to reflect the dynamics and other voices.

4. There must be at least two examples of octave doubling of a melodic line.

5. There must be at least one example where unison doubling is used to create a blended ensemble line or texture.

6. There must be two clear uses of gradual tempo change.

What to turn in:

1. A ProTools recording of the orchestration in your folder on the ProTools computer clearly labeled as Assignment #3.

2. A copy of the Debussy score clearly labeled as to the above technical requirements.

3. Your DP document labeled as Assignment #3 on the main computer.

Grading:

Will be based on your meeting the above requirements plus the creativeness that you bring to this orchestration.
