MTC 436 Assignment #6:
Absynth Sounds #2
Due date: Wednesday, October 24, 2007
SPECIFICATIONS:
Create three different sounds using ring modulation or frquency shifting techniques. For these sounds you are restricted to the Oscill module (can be in RM mode), Filter module, Mod module and LFO module.
1. Gong sound. Use ring modulation to create the sound of a gong. The envelope
for this patch should not have a sustain element but should emulate the strike/decay
characteristics of a gong.
2. MultiLayer#1. This patch should have 2 active channels. The first should be a pitched bell sound using frequency shifting. Again, no sustain on this sound, but the sound should be much more clearly pitched than #1 above. The second channel should
be a sustained sound with a slow filter sweep (c.4sec up/4sec down) that loops and pans from left->right->left, etc. with the sweep. This channel should not use RM or FS.
3. MultiLayer#2. Create an interesting RM/FS sound which does NOT have a gong
or bell attack/decay pattern. This could be a sound similar in nature to the second channel in #2 above. You must use the separate MOD module in conjunction with the FILTER module for this patch. You can use 1 to 3 channels.
How to submit this assignment
As mentioned in class, you must create a blank Absynth bank, title it with your last name,
and place it in your class folder on the computer. All assignments must be placed into the patch slots from 112-127 in this bank. Your patches for the above assignment must be named A6-1, A6-2, and A6-3 respectively.
