C O L O R

Colors can be specified for the background, text, links, etc. on a web page. The colors are expressed as 6 hexedecimal digits. Like:

        bgcolor="#00FF7F"

The first 2 digits are for the red, the middle 2 are for the green, and the last 2 are for the blue. Two hexedecimal digits define 256 levels of each of the basic colors (red, green and blue) from 00 for none to FF for the maximum. The color specified above has no red (00), maximum green (FF) and a medium level of blue (7F). It would produce this color:

With 256 levels for each of the color guns of a monitor, there are over 16 million unique colors possible! (256 x 256 x 256)

I won't bother to show you them all, but Netscape named the following 140 colors so you can use their name instead of their hexidecimal designation.

The color block on the left is produced with the name, the color block on the right is produced with the hexedecimal codes.

If the exact color you want is not named, pick a color near what you want, but use its hexidecimal code instead of the name. Add or subtract a little from the red, green or blue value to adjust it as necessary.
