  • World Data Center for Human Interactions in the Environment    The World Data Center for Human Interactions in the Environment provides acess to population data and administrative boundaries. Population data have been emphasized in this WDC because of the importance of population in environmental change; administrative boundaries are a natural complement, given their utility in creating spatially referenced data sets and in data integration.
  • CIESIN's U.S. - Demography Home Page   This site, provided by the Consortium for International Earth Science Information Network, contains links to a variety of online sources of demographic data. This site contains online data from the U.S. Census (1940 - 1990), Current Population Survey, County and City Data Book, and a cariety of other sources.
  • Bureau of Labor Statistics home page    The Bureau of Labor Statistics is the principal fact-finding agency for the Federal Government in the broad field of labor economics and statistics. Statistica data about all U.S states is readily available.
  • Global Population Data Sets    This website provide access to Asian Poulation Datasets, African population Data Sets and other Global Population Datasets.
  • General Social Survey data   The General Social Survey (GSS) has been conducted by the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) since 1972. It contains responses from numerous questions dealing with social and political attitudes, and also contains a fair amount of economic and demographic information. You can browse and search through the variable list at this page. This data may also be downloaded from either Berkeley's online data archive (this site contains a nice extract facility that also creates a codebook for the extract file) or from Queens College. The Queens College site also contains a nice downloadable DOS-based extract program that makes it possible to construct your own extracts from one or more years of data. A program containing a searchable annotated bibliography of studies conducted using this data is also available.
  • Georeferenced Population Data Sets of Mexico    The Georeferenced Population Data Sets of Mexico consists of the following products: Population Database of Mexico; Urban Place, Time-Series Population Spreadsheet of Mexico; Urban Place GIS Coverage of Mexico; GIS Coverage of Mexican Localities; GIS Coverage of Mexican States; GIS Coverage of Mexican Municipalities; and Raster Based GIS Coverage of Mexican Population.
  • National Survey of America's Families    The National Survey of America's Families is a longitudinal study that began with a 1997 sample of over 44,000 households containing over 100,000 adults. This study is sponsored by the Urban Institute and focuses "on the economic, health, and social characteristics of children, adults under the age of 65, and their families".
  • GRID-Geneva  GRID-Geneva focuses on the acquisition or creation, documentation, archive and dissemination of Global and European digital georeferenced environmental data. It contains datasets in all the following categories: Atmosphere, Biodiversity, Boundaries, Climate, Ecological/Life zones, Human related, Hydrology, Land Cover, Oceans & Seas, Physical Geography, Soils & Vegetation index.
  • Office of Population Research (Princeton University)   This demographic research center provides a several useful demographic data sets that are available for downloading. Among these are the World Fertility Surveys, data from the Latin American Development Archive, and data from the Central American Population Program in San José, Costa Rica.
  • 'Caveat Emptor' Ecological Data Repository    This repository is supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation at the San Diego Supercomputer Center and it provides access to various ecological data sets
  • GEWEX Data Sets   The Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment(GEWEX) is an intergrated program of research, observations and science activities ultimately leading to the prediction of global and regional climate. This webpage provide acess to datasets used for various projects under GEWEX.
