RAFT TRIP THROUGH GRAND CANYON (Details)

May 19-26, 2003   Cost $1785

This is our annual 7½ day geology-oriented raft trip through the Grand Canyon from Lees Ferry to Whitmore Wash. We will examine side canyons, geologic features, and fossils not normally viewed by commercial river trips.  There will be an optional, all-day, pre-trip geology excursion to Glen Canyon Dam, Lake Powell, and the Lees Ferry Area on May 18 for those willing to arrive a day early.  We travel with Hatch River Expeditions on large, motorized, inflatable rafts for maximum safety. Participants will rendezvous at the large Hatch facility at the Vermillion Cliffs no later than the evening of May 18 and will return there via aircraft on May 26.  Price includes 1 pre-trip orientation at ASU, the optional pre-launch Lake Powell excursion, a waterproof guidebook, geologic handouts, all meals while on the river, minimum tip for the boatmen, helicopter exit to Diamond Bar Ranch, plane flight back to the Vermillion cliffs, and a post-trip party/slide show.   We are pleased to be able to offer a geologic adventure of this type at a price below the commercial rate. The trip is limited to 36 participants. A $100/person non-refundable deposit secures your place.  Final payment is due March 5, 2003.  Detailed information about the trip is available at: http://www.public.asu.edu/~iaclpk/raftinfo.htm
