__Jon
Harrison received his B.Sc. from the University
of Toronto in 1978 and a Ph.D. from the University
of Colorado, Boulder, under the tutelage of Dr.
Todd Gleeson. He did postdoctoral work with Dr.
John Phillips at the University
of British Columbia from 1988-1990. Jon joined
the faculty at Arizona
State University in 1991, where he is now Professor
and Associate Director of the School
of Life Sciences.
__Jon serves
on the editorial board of
Physiological and Biochemical Zoology. Jon has
organized six national and international symposia,
recently served on the co-organized the Comparative
Physiology 2006 meeting, and is currently the
program officer for the Comparative and Evolutionary
Physiology Section of the American
Physiological Society.
__His research
focuses on respiratory and metabolic aspects of insect
physiology, in an ecological and evolutionary context.
Recent research interests include testing the hypothesis
that oxygen delivery limits insect size, exploring
the role of phosphate as a limiting nutrient for herbivorous
insects, and investigating environmental and genetic
effects on flight metabolic rate.
