Let’s Speak Vietnamese is a complete package
of instructional materials for the beginning level of Vietnamese.  The materials aim to help learners to
develop proficiency in all the 4 language skills as well
as to raise cultural awareness.  The flexible framework
of this text can accommodate various approaches to language learning. It also designed for self-learning.

Let's Speak Vietnamese uses the language as it is
spoken now in contemporary Vietnam and primarily the Northern dialect as it is the dialect of the capital.


Workbook/Laboratory Manual
consists of sixteen chapters corresponding to the sixteen topical chapters in the textbook . Each chapter contains Reading and Writing Activies and Listening Activities sections.

These sections provide a variety of exercises to help students practice using new vocabulary and grammar points introduced in the lessons of the main text and develop writing, reading, and listening skills.  Some of these exercises can be done as group or pair activities in class or as homework.

The Southeast Asia Publications of Northern Illinois University is distributing exclusively Activities Manuals  - Book 1 and   2, by Phạm Thúy-Kim, to aid in the teaching of Spoken Vietnamese For Beginners.  These workbooks include writing exercises, listening activities, classroom group activities, and pattern drills.  Additional review exercises have been devised for each of the four review chapters of Spoken Vietnamese For Beginners.

Colloquial Vietnamese - The Art of Saying Little But Saying It All
This self-teaching guide is geared to learners who have had at least 2 or more years of studying Vietnamese.  The text can be used for self-teaching as a reference or supplemental materials for advanced level classes.  This step-by-step approach teaches the actual spoken language that is constantly used in TV shows, movies, and in everyday life as well as among family and members of native Vietnamese.  The text is organized to show learners to recognize and understand the use of colloquial language and in what situation. It includes sentence structures with plenty of examples, drill exercises, and word games.
